What is your favorite word in your language and why?
Petrichor - the smell of rain on dry ground after a dry season I love this word because its definition describes a very specific scent, and it is a fun word to say!

What is your favorite dish from your hometown? If you no longer live there is there a good local restaurant that serves it?
My mom's side of the family is Italian, so cannolis are my favorite dish. The best cannolis I've ever had were made by my mom, but there are many Italian delis near Long Beach that I'm sure make great cannolis as well!

Besides the languages you teach, do you speak or study any other languages?
English is my native language, but I am somewhat conversational in Spanish and French. I have also studied Japanese, Korean, ancient Greek, ancient Hebrew, Hindi, Indonesian, Tagalog, and Malayalam. I love learning languages!

What are your interests outside of teaching at Strommen?
I read a lot and occasionally write poetry. I also love to sing in other languages. My YouTube playlist has songs in about 14 different languages on it, and I memorize and sing along to all of them!

What do you consider your hometown? Why do you love it?
Even though I live in Lakewood, CA, I consider Long Beach my hometown. My dad was born and raised there, and we spend most of our time in this city since my grandmother lives there still.
