My name is Jean Pablo. I'm a Cuban Spanish tutor born in the province of Camagüey, Cuba. Where I would grow up and study until the age of 16, when we had the opportunity to move to Spain, looking for better life conditions.
There, I decided to "get back" to Cuba through its Spanish which I teach exclusively online to foreigners from English, French or Catalan (the languages I currently speak).
At the moment of writing this there is nobody else (at least online) that teaches this dialect as broadly and specifically as I do.
I've had over 70 students and have helped them to make progress and learn to communicate and understand Spanish like a native Cuban. I have recieved acclaim for my knowledge and way of teaching this beautiful yet rare dialect.
I'm pacient, flexible, understanding, and a language learner just like you. I spend my days working, reading philosophy, studying foreign languages crazily and improving my set-up so you can have a top-notch experience during our sessions.

What is your favorite word in your language and why?
Pinga. Is the Cuban word by excellence. If you want to master the word and know all the other possible meanings don't hesitate to book a lesson and I'll explain!

What is your favorite dish from your hometown? If you no longer live there is there a good local restaurant that serves it?
Moros y cristianos or arroz congrí. Traditional Cuban dish served both in homes and in restaurants. It is a form of rice and peas. Look it up! Is delicious!

Besides the languages you teach, do you speak or study any other languages?
I teach Spanish. But I am a huge language enthusiast. I speak fluently English (C2), French (C2), Catalan (B2), Spanish (Native) I am currently learning Greek and German.

What are your interests outside of teaching at Strommen?
I love reading philosophy and the classics. Study languages intensively. Playing videogames with interesting plots. Watching captivating movies and series.

What do you consider your hometown? Why do you love it?
I'm from Camagüey, Cuba. It is a magical place for it has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, because of its irregular, maze-like city planning, its prominent role in early Spanish colonization and agriculture, and its rich architecture showing a variety of influence
