Bonjour, my name is Flora and I was born and raised in Pau, France. I have a passion for travelling and I have lived in two other countries: England and the US. I currently live in Texas, where I moved in 2015. I have a Bachelor’s degree in English from the university of Pau, and a Master’s degree in French from the University of North Texas. I love my language and culture, which I have taught to middle and high school students, as well as adults for the last 8 years.
I have experience teaching in person and also online. At the beginning of my lessons, I always ask my students what their personal goals and interests are, and I adapt accordingly. I like to include a good balance of conversation, vocabulary, grammar and culture to each lesson. I also enjoy using different tools in order to have fun while learning: articles, games, songs, videos, etc. I love focusing on communication and using authentic materials in order to do so.
I know French grammar can be daunting at times, but I do my best to explain grammatical concepts in simple ways. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our three cats, eating out and taking long walks in nature. I look forward to telling you all about my culture and teaching you how to speak French like a native speaker

What is your favorite word in your language and why?
My favorite word is "amour" because it means "love" and I'm a hopeless romantic :)

What is your favorite dish from your hometown? If you no longer live there is there a good local restaurant that serves it?
I love the dish "garbure", which is a meat and veggie based soup from my region in France.

Besides the languages you teach, do you speak or study any other languages?
I'm fluent in English and I can understand Spanish but struggle to speak it.

What are your interests outside of teaching at Strommen?
I love traveling, shopping, going on long walks, eating out and hanging out with my husband and our three cats.

What do you consider your hometown? Why do you love it?
My hometown is Pau, France where I was born and raised. I don't live there anymore but I love it because it's small, yet beautiful and great for shopping and eating out. Oh and it's less than 2 hours away from the ocean and the mountains.
