Ciao! It's Giacomo, speaking to you directly from Lecco, Italy! I am a passionate language lover, teacher, and learner. I was born and bred in Northern Italy, and I can teach you all you want to know about the ins and outs of the Italian language, with a little bit of history and culture sprinkled throughout. What is your favorite word in your language and why?
My favourite Italian word is 'crepuscolo'. It means 'twilight' and I like it because of the sound it has, and because of everything it represents and the images it evokes.

What is your favorite dish from your hometown? If you no longer live there is there a good local restaurant that serves it?
My hometown is not home to many dishes per se, but if there's one thing I love coming from there, it's salami and cheese. Now I moved a little bit, here they have salami and cheese as well (They're not as good but if I tell them they'll be offended... Italians!)

Besides the languages you teach, do you speak or study any other languages?
I am trying my best to learn some more Spanish, I studied Norwegian for three years at Uni, but I don't speak it anymore, so I'm losing it a bit. My dream is to learn Japanese, and I'll get there someday!

What are your interests outside of teaching at Strommen?
First place would have to go to reading and translating, followed by video games, music, movies. In short, all that's related to entertainment, art and human expression.

What do you consider your hometown? Why do you love it?
My hometown is the lake and the Alps. I grew up there and, even though I like travelling and wish to explore as much of the world as I can, I will always recognise that as my home. My mountains, my lake.
