Tutor Bio
CIAO!
Giovanni here, Italian-American dialect coach, speech consultant, and writer soaking up the LA sun (most likely rain, this past winter).
Drama grad from the William Esper Studio in NYC.
In the Big Apple I've worn many hats – from working in a production company to being a personal assistant for an actor and even assisting a New York Times author.
I stumbled upon my love for teaching while leading a Film class at the United World College.
New to LA, I'm all about teaching Italian and being the go-to speech "guy" for actors, speakers, production companies and athletes.
Ready to upgrade from just saying "pizza margherita, grazie"?
Catch you later, ciao!

-
What is your favorite word in your language and why?
CIAO. Easy, warm, friendly... It's gotta be the first word the Homo Sapiens uttered :)
-
What is your favorite dish from your hometown? If you no longer live there is there a good local restaurant that serves it?
Frico. A fat bomb. Its main ingredients are: melted cheese, onions and potatoes.
-
Besides the languages you teach, do you speak or study any other languages?
French, Spanish and I'm learning Brazilian Portuguese.
-
What are your interests outside of teaching at Strommen?
Cinema. I know, I know. How cliche, here in LA. Trust me, I tried doing something else... But it's my last thought at night and my first, upon waking:) Let's see, I also love strolling through Prospect Park, reading Kent Haruf or Carver, watching Mike Mills' films, Little Miss Sunshine or Almost Famous for the 120th time, vintage motorcycles and soccer teams that never win.
-
What do you consider your hometown? Why do you love it?
Trieste and NYC. I lived half my life in Trieste and half in NYC. Trieste and NY are very different, like pizza with pineapple, strange, but strangely good :)
