Tutor Bio
Hi! I'm Matteo, I'm a certified Italian teacher.
First, I graduated from the University of Siena in "Languages for the intercultural communication" (Spanish/English), then, by attending a 1 academic year-Master (DITALS) I majored in Teaching Italian L2.
Few weeks ago (march 2025) I also obtained the CELI-examiner certificate to test whoever wants to certificate his/her italian by taking the CELI certificate.
During the last two years I've been teaching Italian to a wide variety of students (in presence and online), mainly university students, adults, seniors and immigrants from Morocco, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Right now I work as a online freelance for a school based in Florence while cooworking in Seville, Spain, as an assistant conversation teacher at the Dante Alighieri Society, on the most famous italian language school-chain in the world.

Besides the languages you teach, do you speak or study any other languages?
Yep, I speak both English and Spanish at an advanced level (well, I cannot perfectly understand every accent or idiom, but I try and that's the secret to learn!)
-
What is your favorite dish from your hometown? If you no longer live there is there a good local restaurant that serves it?
That's hard...I'm Italian ;) My favourite dish, the one I would ask if it were my last dish ever, would be "spaghetti alla carbonara" (the original recipe!). It's not exactly from my hometown but nevermind!

What are your interests outside of teaching at Strommen?
Mmm let me see, I'd say: reading books about '900 history, listening to some chill music while sipping a beer, cooking something special (sometimes), hiking (not necessarily in this order!)
-
What is your favorite word in your language and why?
Scintilla! (Spark) There isn't a specific reason, it sounds well in Italian (if correctly pronounced ofc).
-
What do you consider your hometown? Why do you love it?
Hard question! Actually I don't have one, I tend to figure out the best in any place I live/visit. I'm kind of a nomad guy.
