Hi, my name is Romeo, I’m 41 years old and I’m a professor of Italian language and literature. I’ve been teaching Italian online to foreigners since 2020, and during this time I’ve met around a hundred students from all over the world and taught about 3,000 lessons. In my lessons, I always focus on the four fundamental skills of language learning: reading, listening, speaking, and writing. I place a lot of importance on speaking, because it’s the skill that students need the most. What is your favorite word in your language and why?
My favorite word is "empatia"-empathy. I believe that we should help people and animals in need.

What is your favorite dish from your hometown? If you no longer live there is there a good local restaurant that serves it?
I really like both pizza and pasta, and in my city there are some very good restaurants where you can eat both dishes.

Besides the languages you teach, do you speak or study any other languages?
I speak Italian, Croatian, Bosnian, and English. At the moment, I'm not studying any other languages, but in the future, I would like to learn Spanish.

What are your interests outside of teaching at Strommen?
I enjoy working out and staying in shape, playing padel, reading personal development books and novels, watching documentaries, and taking care of animals.

What do you consider your hometown? Why do you love it?
My hometown is Pula, in Croatia. I was born here and I still live here. I like it a lot because it’s a small city with about 60,000 inhabitants, the beaches are very beautiful, the sea is clean, and the air is fresh. I think life in Pula is good.
