  • Los Angeles Classes: English Second Language, Farsi
  • About: Salam, esme man Elaheh ast. My name is Elaheh, and I am originally from Iran. I hold a master's degree in English teaching. My teaching philosophy is beautifully captured by Nelson Mandela's quote: "If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart." I firmly believe that to communicate effectively with your loved ones and others, and to express your thoughts and feelings, it's best to learn their language. I have been teaching English and Persian (Farsi) for over 14 years, and it has been a wonderful journey. I have had the privilege of helping learners from all around the world become fluent in Farsi and English. What I enjoy most is introducing my students to the rich Persian culture, language, and poetry. As Rumi, one of Iran's greatest poets, said, "The heart is a sea, and language is the shore. Whatever is in the sea reaches the shore." I also teach Persian poetry to those who wish to enjoy a cup of tea(chae) and recite Iranian poetry aloud. This not only makes for an enjoyable pastime but is also believed by many to offer insights into life and human nature, as much of Persian poetry is highly didactic. You're in good hands on this linguistic and cultural adventure.
