Group French Language Classes in Los Angeles

Strømmen Group Classes are very lively, social, and even more affordable than our private classes. This isn't your high school language class (or classroom for that matter!) Meet at fun locations in Los Angeles. Group classes are 1.5 hours long and meet once a week, for 8 weeks (12 hours total + 1 free make up class.)

Intended for students who are completely new to French and for those who would like a fresh start.

Greetings, introducing yourself, asking someone's name, introducing a friend, asking someone's age, telling your age, asking where someone lives, telling where you live, feminine/masculine/plural adjectives, talking about profession/work, basic physical descriptions, basic question structures, basic negative sentences, verbs etre (to be) and avoir (to have) in the present tense, some verbs in the 1st group (-er ending verbs), numbers.

French 1 (Online)

French Foundations so you don’t feel so overwhelmed by learning a new language! French is Fun!
This class involves personalized teaching and dialogue with the teacher to address the beginner’s needs. We will cover greetings/introductions, description vocabulary and grammar as well as describing oneself and where one is from, conjugation basics, including the verbs to be, to have and to do as well as an intro to using verbs to describe what you like to do, time and the calendar, asking questions and question basics including order in a cafe and asking directions.

French 1 (Online)

YOUR FRENCH ESSENTIALS! Learn greetings and how to navigate the cultural differences of introducing oneself in French, how to talk about the weather, likes and dislikes, appearance and personality. You will also learn the basics of conjugation, including the verbs to be, to have and to do, numbers, and how to ask basic questions, order in a cafe, etc. Texts required, some online content provided.

We will consolidate skills learned in FRENCH 1 and expand vocabulary, explore other types of verbs in the present and the future, learn how to tell the time and express possession. We’ll practice some basic conversation and do some exploration of French culture and way of life. Texts required, some online content provided. French 3 (Online)

Everything in FRENCH 1 + 2, adding some irregular verbs, talking about food - how to buy and how to order - the partitif, how to avoid repetition (direct pronouns), narrating in the past (passé composé tense), and giving commands. Practice of conversation and listening skills, talking about one’s opinions and expand vocabulary. Texts required, some online content provided. Using all we learned in FRENCH 1 + 2 + 3, expanding vocabulary, talking about how things used to be (imparfait tense), linking ideas, making comparisons. We’ll go more into details about how to recount past events, how to avoid repetition (indirect pronouns), more irregular verbs and talking about travel and geographical places. French 13 - Intermediate (Online)

For intermediate students (B1) looking to have a more fluid communication both oral and written. Students in this class have already covered all the basic tenses, especially Présent, Futur Proche, Futur Simple, Passé Composé, Imparfait and Plus-que-parfait. They are familiar with Futur Antérieur and are on their way to master the Subjonctif and Conditionnel. They are comfortable having a simple conversation, expressing their opinions, know basic fields of vocabulary and some more casual everyday French. We will keep reviewing these tenses and structures, and add new ones, as well as idiomatic expressions; storytelling; and expand fields of vocabulary. LET’S SPEAK FRENCH! Do you feel you just need to polish and practice a language you are already comfortable with? This class is for you! Talk with a native speaker and other advanced students in a relaxed atmosphere and a small group. Using some current events, texts and media that we choose together as basis, we’ll be able to practice speaking on a variety of subjects, reinforcing some key structures and vocabulary as needed.   • Early Bird Registration: $227
  • Regular Registration: $258

Policies

  • Group classes are 9 weeks, 90 minutes each, including one free make-up class.
  • Tuition payments are non-refundable and cannot be postponed to a future term. No credit or refunds can be given in any form.
  • Check the class details for text requirements.
  • Minimum of 3 students for 12 hours - Options will be offered if enrollment is low, including shorter classes and/or private classes at a discount.
