Italian in Los Angeles
Strommen has been matching students with private Italian tutors in Los Angeles since 2006. We run private lessons and group classes for all levels, including beginner Italian, Italian conversation workshops, traveler Italian, and Italian for opera. Our founder grew up in Rome, attended international school there for eight years, and speaks Italian fluently. That heritage runs through everything we do with Italian at Strommen.
LA has a deep Italian cultural presence. From the restaurants and wine bars of Silver Lake and Los Feliz to the Italian film festivals and cultural institutes, Italian is alive in this city. Many of our students are preparing for trips to Italy, connecting with Italian heritage, working in fashion or food, or studying opera. We have provided Italian language instruction for the LA Opera Young Artist Program for over a decade.
Our Italian dialect coaches have worked on major productions including Your Honor Season 2 for Showtime. How long does it take to learn Italian?
Italian is Category I — the easiest for English speakers, especially if you know any Spanish or French. Most students reach comfortable conversation in 4 to 6 months with regular lessons.
Do you offer Italian for opera?
Yes. We have provided Italian instruction for the LA Opera Young Artist Program for over a decade. Our tutors work with singers on pronunciation, diction, and comprehension of libretti.
Can I take Italian classes online?
Yes — all private lessons and many group classes are available online via Zoom.
