How it works

Four steps.

01

Tell us about the job

Date, location, language, and setting. Court date? Conference? Broadcast? The format tells us who to send.

02

We match an interpreter

From a roster we know personally — matched on language, certification, and experience in your exact setting. We confirm fit before locking.

03

Briefing

Case caption, run-of-show, terminology, names and pronunciations — under NDA when the material calls for it. The interpreter shows up prepped.

04

Event day

The interpreter arrives early and syncs with your team. A backup contact at Strommen stays on standby through the day.

Why Strommen

A vetted roster, not a marketplace.

Founder-vetted, every one

Strommen is not a marketplace. Garrett Strommen has run this roster personally since 2006. Every interpreter we send has been vetted by the founder, and most have worked with us for years.

Court-certified where it counts

For legal settings we staff California court-certified and registered interpreters: the credential LA Superior Court and federal courts actually require, not a self-declared specialty.

NDA-bound as standard

Two decades of film, TV, and legal work means confidentiality is the default. Our interpreters sign NDAs routinely and are used to pre-release material and sealed matters.

LA-anchored, worldwide

FAQ

Interpreting questions.

Simultaneous or consecutive — which do we need?

Tell us the format and we'll tell you. Live broadcast, conferences, and stage panels usually call for simultaneous (the interpreter speaks at the same time, through a booth or earpiece). Depositions, court appearances, medical visits, and red carpets usually run consecutive (the interpreter waits, then renders). Some events mix both.

Are your interpreters court-certified?

For legal settings, yes — we staff California court-certified and registered interpreters, the credential LA Superior Court and federal courts require. For non-legal settings we match by experience in that environment: broadcast, medical, conference booth.

How much lead time do you need?

The earlier the better, especially for less common languages or named talent — ideally a week so we can match the right interpreter and brief them. Same-day and next-day requests get handled when the language and format line up with someone available.

How do rates work?

We quote per project. Rates depend on language, setting, format (simultaneous vs. consecutive), length, and travel. Day rates cover up to 8 hours. Certified legal work and broadcast simultaneous bill at a premium over general consecutive. No coordination fees, no booking deposits.

Do you cover events outside Los Angeles?

Yes. We staff events nationwide and abroad. Travel, lodging, and per diem are billed transparently as line items on the quote.

What if my language isn't listed?

Ask. The twelve languages on this page are the ones LA requests most, but we staff interpreting in 40+ languages regularly, and we've been sourcing rare languages for film, legal, and corporate clients since 2006.
