Spanish Tutors, Vetted in Person

Around 79 Spanish tutors, online and in person, and founder Garrett Strommen has met every one of them face to face. Native speakers from Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia and beyond. Most students learn online from wherever they are; if you'd rather sit across the table from someone, we do that too, in Los Angeles and Madrid.

Questions, answered

Which Spanish should I learn — Spain or Latin America?

The one you'll actually use. If your in-laws are from Guadalajara, learn Mexican Spanish. If you're moving to Barcelona, learn Castellano. The core language is the same everywhere — a tutor from Bogotá will still understand you in Madrid — but accent, slang and a few grammar habits differ, and starting with the right variety saves you relearning later. Every tutor's profile says where they're from, and our dialect pages let you pick precisely.

How much do Spanish lessons cost?

Every tutor sets their own rate, and the range on this page is pulled live from those listings — no estimates, no platform markup on top. Ten and twenty hour packages bring the hourly price down; the exact numbers are on each tutor's profile.

How long until I can hold a conversation?

Spanish is one of the friendlier languages for English speakers — the sounds are learnable, the spelling is honest, and you already know hundreds of words you don't realize you know. Students who do one or two lessons a week and actually speak in them are usually having real, imperfect, enjoyable conversations within a few months. What moves the needle is speaking time, which is the whole point of one-on-one lessons.

Do you offer in-person Spanish lessons?

Yes — Los Angeles is home base, with tutors across the city, and we have in-person tutors in Madrid as well. Everywhere else, lessons are online. If you pick “in person” in the matcher above, we'll point you to your options.

I have no idea what my level is. Where do I start?

Take the free five-minute level test linked above. It places you on the CEFR scale (A1 through C2), which is the scale your tutor will use to plan your lessons. Total beginner is also a level — most of our students started there.
