PRIVATE SWEDISH CLASSES LOS ANGELES
With a Strommen teacher you will speak Swedish on the first class. A private session is more effective, efficient and convenient than enrolling in a group class. Your Strommen teacher will be a perfect fit for your needs and learning style. We equate 10 hours of private classes with a full semester in a traditional college or group class.
Scheduling is convenient (7 days a week, any time of day), and you can start right away. You can easily reschedule, so you will never miss a class and get left behind. In a private class you do the speaking. There are no other students to hide behind or take up all of the teacher’s time. Your teacher will make sure you progress at your pace, rather than the pace of the best (or worst) student in the class. Strommen further enriches your learning experience with free podcasts, videos, online resources, Strommen Language Meetups around LA, group classes, workshops and even annual immersion trips.
Getting started is easy, just fill out our student application or call and we will help choose the best teacher for you. We decide on a specific teacher based on a number of criteria including a professional gut-feeling. We will make sure it is the perfect match. As a student, your Strommen teacher will be highly dedicated to you. Many of our teachers meet at cafes, at their home office, or anywhere you like. We believe it’s fundamentally wrong to really learn a language from a text book, audio CD, or computer program. It’s time to get away from the computer, grab a coffee and meet your Strommen teacher to have a real conversation!

TUTORS
Willkommen bei Strømmen! Välkommen hos Strømmen! I am a teacher for German and Swedish and would love to work with you using a fun, personalized and interactive approach to help you reach your language goals and better navigate the world! I grew up in Berlin and Lund (Sweden) where I studied Biology and German and Swedish linguistics and literature. I conducted research in the Arctic and Antarctic and graduated with a PhD in Biology from Lund University, Sweden. My research projects, my teaching assignments and my involvement in international folk dance have given me the opportunity to get to know languages and cultures across Europe (including Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, the UK, Greece, Spain), Canada and the US. On many occasions I have experienced first hand how it feels when using inappropriate words or phrases or using them in an inadequate context. All of which created a steep daily learning curve that my students now are benefiting from. Since 2001 I am based in Los Angeles where I provide language and cross-cultural training both face-to-face and online. Over the past nine years I have successfully prepared more than 120 students for their study abroad or work visits to Europe by providing language and cross-cultural communication training and logistical support. Become one of them!
Locations: Venice, Marina Del Rey, Santa Monica, Culver City, Beverly Hills, Los AngelesHejsan, my name is Martina. I was born and raised in Jönköping, Sweden. My love of the word led me to major in languages (Swedish, English, French, Spanish, Danish). After graduating with honors from Gothenburg University, I was awarded Rotary’s International Ambassadorial Scholarship. Before leaving Sweden, I taught English and Drama for several years. In Los Angeles I have been a teacher in a bilingual (English/Spanish) outreach program (ECT) for youth, as well as performed in voice-overs and on stage. I have also been translating, teaching and interpreting Swedish for the last few years. Teaching is great fun for me and a way to keep my language alive while hopefully increasing my students mastery and love of Swedish.
