Italian Tutors, Vetted in Person

Our Italian tutors live in Milan, Turin, Venice, Florence, Rome, Calabria, Sicily and Sardinia, plus a good number here in Los Angeles, and Garrett meets every one of them before they teach for us. Most students learn online from wherever they live. In Los Angeles you can also meet in person, and a few of our tutors in Rome, Florence and Milan teach in person too.

In person, in your city

Online, worldwide

Learn Italian online

Most of our Italian students learn online. Lessons are one on one over video and booked from your tutor's calendar, so you can learn with someone in Turin or Tropea without leaving home and spend the hour on whatever you need: conversation, grammar, a script, or an exam.

Find your tutor

Questions, answered

My family spoke a dialect. Can I learn that?

Often, yes. We have tutors for Sicilian, Neapolitan, Roman and several other regional languages, and each specialty page lists who teaches it. Many heritage learners study standard Italian alongside the dialect, since that's the Italian they'll read and hear on TV.

Do I need an Italian exam for citizenship?

If you're applying through marriage or residence, yes. Italy asks for Italian at B1 level, shown with a certificate such as the CILS. Some of our tutors coach the CILS B1 Cittadinanza exam specifically, so tell your tutor your test date and they'll plan back from it.

How much do Italian lessons cost?

Each tutor sets their own rate, and the range on this page comes live from their listings. 10- and 20-hour packages lower the hourly rate, and every rate is on the tutor's profile before you book.

Is Italian hard for English speakers?

It's one of the friendlier ones. Words are spelled the way they sound, and a lot of vocabulary comes from Latin, like much of English. Verb endings and the subjunctive take longer, and regular speaking practice is what gets you through them.

Do you offer in-person Italian lessons?

Yes, in Los Angeles: see our Italian tutors in LA, several of whom teach at your home or office, or you can go to them. A few tutors in Rome, Florence and Milan also teach in person. Everywhere else, lessons are online.
