Looking for a Korean dialect coach in Los Angeles?
Strømmen has been placing dialect coaches on film and television sets for over ten years, and we keep several Korean coaches on our roster. If you need someone on set next week, we can usually match you the same day.
Our work on Castle
We covered several languages on Castle — Korean, Mandarin and French dialect coaching among them. It is the kind of job where one production needs three coaches across a season, and having them all come from one vetted roster saves the production office a great deal of chasing.
What a Korean dialect coach actually does
More than pronunciation. A coach works with an actor on rhythm and register — how a line lands differently depending on who is being addressed, which matters more in Korean than in English because the language encodes that relationship in the grammar itself. Get the level of formality wrong and the line still sounds fluent, but the character reads as rude, or oddly deferential, to anyone who speaks it.
We also supply recordings before the first session so actors are not learning the sound of the line and the meaning of it at the same time.
Rates and availability
Rates are competitive, and we work with productions of every size — features, episodic, commercials and video games.
