Tutor Bio
Dear Sirs,
I’m an Italian and Drama teacher living in Milan, Italy, a vibrant town well known for culture, fashion and design.
I have a Master's Degree in Foreign Cultures and Languages and a CEDILS Certification for Teaching Italian as a Second Language.
I started my career playing in Theatre, and that's how I've got in touch with many people of different cultres and languages and started being passionate about cultural and linguisticc exchanges.
I started teaching Italian 10 years ago to Chinese children of my neighborhood ( that was Chinatown, in Milan), and then went on teaching in private schools for foreign students enrolled in different universities in Milan.
I’ve run Italian lessons at every level, from A1 to C2, and have experience in preparing students to take A2 test, that is the level required to apply for an EC Residence Permit or “residence card” for all foreigners residing in Italy.
Meantime, I took my CEDILS - Certificate as Teacher of Italian as a Second Language at the University Ca'Foscari, in Venice.
At present, I'm teaching Italian online as a freelance mainly to adult students, that need to learn it for work, or study, or vacation.
I think the most interesting thing in learning a new language is to empower our ability to communicate, so my teaching method is very simple: in my lessons I always start with communication and new easy words and then I guide the student to the discovery of grammar that stands behind.
I’m also a certified Dramatherapist, as you can read in my cv, and that’s why my strong point is to build a good interactive relationship with students.

What is your favorite word in your language and why?
My favourite Italian Word is INNAMORATO, that means " in love". I think Italian culture inclines people to be open to love: you can fall in love with somebody, or a new project, or Arts, or food, or, simply, LIFE!!!

What is your favorite dish from your hometown? If you no longer live there is there a good local restaurant that serves it?
My favourite dish is "Pasta col pesto", typical of Ligurian region. Pesto is a raw sauce made with basil, pine nuts, olive oil and cheese Parmigiano Reggiano, very simple but really fragrant: it reminds me of the scent of the coastal greenery near Genova, where I was born.

Besides the languages you teach, do you speak or study any other languages?
English, Spanish

What are your interests outside of teaching at Strommen?
I'm a certified Dramatherapist, so I run Drama-Therapy courses for some local communities. I love Theatre, contemporary Literature and Cinema.

What do you consider your hometown? Why do you love it?
I was born in Genova: it’s a nest where I can enjoy every time the scent of the sea and the magic of ancient churches mixed with the background of popular voices in the small streets. But later I was "adopted» by Milan, the town where I spent most of my life. It’s atmosphere is really engaging: you run all the time after Fashion, Design, Business .. And suddenly you find a moment of absolute peace, facing the beauty of a historical place, like Duomo or Castello Sforzesco!
