Learn more about Fabiana

  • What is your favorite word in your language and why?

My favorite word in Italian is "magari." It’s a little word that’s full of hope. It means something like "maybe" or "I wish." I love it because it’s so simple but full of dreams and possibilities.

  • What is your favorite dish from your hometown? If you no longer live there is there a good local restaurant that serves it?

My favorite dish from my hometown in Sicily is "pasta alla Norma." It’s pasta with tomatoes, fried eggplant, and ricotta salata,, simple but full of flavor. Even though I live in Venice now, I still make it at home whenever I’m missing that taste of Sicily. It always brings back warm memories of family dinners and summer evenings.

  • Besides the languages you teach, do you speak or study any other languages?

Besides Italian, I speak English, French, German, and a bit of Arabic and Chinese. I also know Sicilian, which is my hometown dialect from Sicily. It’s great for chatting with family and keeping a connection to my roots.

  • What are your interests outside of teaching at Strommen?

Outside of teaching at Strommen, I’m really into digital art and music. I love creating graphic designs and exploring new artistic projects. Music is another passion of mine, I enjoy discovering new genres and artists.

  • What do you consider your hometown? Why do you love it?

I consider my hometown to be Sicily. It’s where I grew up, and I love it for its beautiful landscapes, amazing food, and friendly people. It’s a place that feels like home, with so many great memories and a strong connection to my roots.
