Tutor Bio

I am a private French teacher with experience teaching Cirque du Soleil artists and crew, as well as working with children, teenagers, and adults. I teach all levels, from complete beginners to advanced students, and tailor each lesson to the learner’s goals, age, and learning style.
My approach is fun, engaging, and interactive, with a strong focus on speaking, real-life communication, and proper pronunciation. I help students develop a natural rhythm and accent so they can speak French confidently and sound like a native, not just study the language.
Whether you’re learning French for school, travel, work, or personal growth, my goal is to make French enjoyable, accessible, and practical, while building lasting confidence and fluency.

Learn more about Monia

  • What is your favorite word in your language and why?

Anticonstitutionellement. It's the longest word in the French language and I find it so fun to say!

  • What is your favorite dish from your hometown? If you no longer live there is there a good local restaurant that serves it?

My favorite dish would be my great-aunt's Chou-fleur Au Gratin. And no, sadly I haven't found a single place that serves it!

  • Besides the languages you teach, do you speak or study any other languages?

Yes, I am also Native in Dutch, fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Tunisian Arabic and I speak some Italian and German.

  • What are your interests outside of teaching at Strommen?

I am a creative through and through. I am a working actor, voice over director and producer. I love anything creative and spending as much time outdoors as possible. I'm also a trained opera singer.

  • What do you consider your hometown? Why do you love it?

Interesting question! I think of Brussels and LA as my hometowns. I spent all my childhood in Brussels, but moved here as a very young adult so I love both equally. I just wish I could teleport my family and friends from back home!
