Learn more about Paola

  • What is your favorite word in your language and why?

My favorite word is “cariño” because it expresses affection and warmth, which are very important in Spanish-speaking cultures.

  • What is your favorite dish from your hometown? If you no longer live there is there a good local restaurant that serves it?

My favorite dish from my hometown, Hermosillo, Sonora, is carne asada. It’s a very traditional dish in northern Mexico, usually served with flour tortillas, salsa, and guacamole. If you visit Hermosillo, Palominos is a great restaurant where you can try delicious Sonoran-style carne asada.

  • Besides the languages you teach, do you speak or study any other languages?

Besides the languages I teach, I studied French for about two and a half years. I also continue taking Italian lessons to keep improving my language skills.

  • What are your interests outside of teaching at Strommen?

Outside of teaching, I enjoy practicing yoga, traveling, and staying active with activities like CrossFit, skiing, and hiking. I also love learning new languages and exploring different cultures.

  • What do you consider your hometown? Why do you love it?

I consider Hermosillo, Sonora my hometown. I love it because of the warm community, the beautiful desert sunsets, and the incredible Sonoran food. It will always feel like home to me.
