Vietnamese interpreters in Los Angeles.
California court-certified Vietnamese interpreters for depositions, hearings, and medical exams, staffed across Los Angeles and Orange County. Southern California holds one of the largest Vietnamese-speaking populations outside Vietnam, and the casework follows.
About
From Little Saigon to the downtown courthouses
Southern California is home to one of the largest Vietnamese-speaking populations outside Vietnam. The center of gravity is Orange County's Little Saigon, but the community extends well into Los Angeles County, and the legal work crosses county lines constantly. A client may live in Westminster, see a doctor in Fountain Valley, and get deposed in a downtown LA conference room. We staff all of it.
Personal injury and workers' compensation matters drive a large share of Vietnamese interpreting demand here. That work has its own rhythm: independent medical exams, recorded statements, depositions, and hearings, often spread over months on the same case. It rewards interpreters who are fluent in both medical vocabulary and legal procedure at once, and who can stay neutral while a doctor and an attorney pull the conversation in different directions.
For court and deposition work, Vietnamese is one of California's designated certified languages, which means the interpreter must pass the state's court certification exam. That is the credential we send into any proceeding where the record matters.
One more thing we check before booking: regional accent. Northern and southern Vietnamese are the same language and mutually intelligible, but the pronunciation differences are real, and much of the Southern California community traces its roots to southern Vietnam. Testimony goes more smoothly when the witness is not adjusting to an unfamiliar accent on top of everything else, so tell us where your speaker is from and we will match for it. The Vietnamese bench here is solid, and most requests are staffed within the week.

A vetted roster, not a marketplace.
Founder-vetted, every one
Strommen is not a marketplace. Garrett Strommen has run this roster personally since 2006. Every interpreter we send has been vetted by the founder, and most have worked with us for years.
Court-certified where it counts
For legal settings we staff California court-certified and registered interpreters: the credential LA Superior Court and federal courts actually require, not a self-declared specialty.
NDA-bound as standard
Two decades of film, TV, and legal work means confidentiality is the default. Our interpreters sign NDAs routinely and are used to pre-release material and sealed matters.
LA-anchored, worldwide
Based in Los Feliz, staffing Los Angeles daily, and on location nationwide or abroad when the job travels. Travel is billed transparently on the quote.

FAQ
Vietnamese interpreting questions.
Are your Vietnamese interpreters court-certified?
For legal settings, yes. Vietnamese is one of California's designated certified languages, so courtroom and deposition work requires an interpreter who has passed the state court certification exam. That is the credential we send. For medical exams, business meetings, and community settings, we match by experience in the environment rather than by the court credential.
Does it matter if my client speaks northern or southern Vietnamese?
It can. Northern and southern Vietnamese are mutually intelligible, but pronunciation differs noticeably between regions, and much of the local community has southern roots. For testimony or a medical exam, matching the interpreter's accent to the speaker keeps things comfortable and reduces repeat-backs. Tell us where your client is from and we will place accordingly.
Do you handle workers' comp and personal injury matters?
Constantly. These cases generate much of the Vietnamese interpreting demand in Southern California: independent medical exams, depositions, recorded statements, and hearings, often recurring on the same case for months. Where it helps, we keep the same interpreter on a case across appointments so the witness is not starting over each time.
How fast can you staff a Vietnamese interpreter?
Most requests are staffed within the week. The bench across LA and Orange County is solid. Certified interpreters for multi-day depositions are a tighter resource, so for those, or for a specific interpreter you have worked with before, give us a week or two of lead time and we will hold the date.
What does a Vietnamese interpreter cost?
We quote per project in half-day and full-day blocks that cover up to 8 hours. Certified legal assignments bill at a premium over general consecutive work, which is true in every language. There are no coordination fees and no booking deposits. Send the setting, location, and dates and you will have a number quickly.
Can you translate Vietnamese documents as well?
Yes, on the translation side of the company. Interpreting is spoken, translation is written, and the specialists are different people. For medical records, civil documents, contracts, or court filings in Vietnamese, see our translation services page or send the document over for a quote. We can run both tracks on the same case.
