  I'm in my fifties and learning a new language for the first time. I've chosen Italian because I'd love to visit there one day or perhaps retire there. Even though I struggle a great deal with this new mental task, Elisa is patient and employs several tactics and practices to help me from all angles. At some point some of it actually started to make sense and I grew in confidence. She's a wonderful teacher / tutor / mentor using humor and positive feedback freely. We've worked together most of this year so far and her particular style of sharing her knowledge is working. It feels very uncomfortable for me to develop this new skill but I feel very positive that she's the person to help make it happen.

  I've been taking Italian with Elisa for a couple weeks now and already feel like my Italian is getting stronger. She makes the class fun with a couple of games and she is really patient and helpful in her lessons. If you miss a class, she will record it for you so you can review it later. I'm signing up for Italian II to continue classes with her - would recommend to anyone who wants to take their language learning to the next level.

  I have been taking Beginning Italian online with tutor Liz Manzini and am loving it! Is it difficult to learn a new language? Assolutamente!! Does Liz make it fun? Anche assolutamente si! I highly recommend her classes. She is so patient, never showing any displeasure with our abilities and she keeps the class flowing at a pace where you don't get bored. We study grammar, structure, etc., as well as practicing writing sentences and speaking them out loud. We also play games, read stories in Italian and listen to Italian music. She is very organized and thoughtful yet keeps things fresh by mixing it up. She is also very responsive to questions and requests outside of class time for instance to correct any homework that we might send her along the week. Working with the folks at Strommen has been a pleasure. They are helpful but not pushy. If you would like to make an inquiry you can rest assured that they won't continue to hound you until you sign up for a class. In summary, I was very happy to have found such a professional organization with the high quality of instructors (as they promise) so close to home and without having to sign on to a college course.

  Took Italian classes for several months with Elisa. Classes were fun and informative, and she had a great approach to match both the beginner and intermediate levels. She was very accommodating to any questions and concerns we had, and even taught cultural nuances and slang you wouldn't find in a textbook.   I researched multiple schools looking for Italian classes, and I am so happy I found Strommen. I attended classes with Elisa for about two months now, and the class is ending next week. I am so sad that it is coming to an end, but I am grateful that Strommen has multiple levels and I am able to continue with Elisa. Our class was so much fun, and we created a wonderful community together. The beginner class I took was much more than verbs and how to conjugate, although there was a lot of that! But she taught us how to form sentences, communicate casually in conversation, and read stories in Italian. I also loved listening to Italian music picked out by Elisa and other students. It was a wonderful experience, and I am so grateful I had the opportunity to meet everyone in this class.

  If you're interested in learning Italian, Elisa is a brilliant teacher. I had a basic Duolingo Italian foundation when I started taking her classes, but I'm much better equipped to practice the language now, having learned grammar and idiomatic expressions from a native speaker. Elisa does a great job of making sure to give you practice with reading, writing, listening, and speaking, and her classes are always really fun and relaxed. I highly recommend her!

  I was looking for an Italian language class to prepare for an upcoming trip to Italy this summer, and thankfully a friend recommended Strommen! I took 2 rounds of Italian lessons with Elisa and felt so well prepared to travel solo through Florence and Rome. Elisa makes learning Italian fun, there was of course the standard vocabulary and grammar lessons but each class was different and sprinkled with practicing real conversation as well as songs, stories and practical application of the Italian language spoken today. I would highly recommend this course and will be taking more in the future to continue my studies.
