Tutor Bio

Bonjour and Hello! My name is Kareshma, and I am an enthusiastic English and French tutor dedicated to helping learners gain confidence and fluency in both languages.

I teach students online, especially adults and professionals who want to improve their communication skills for work, travel, or personal goals. I focus on creating a positive and supportive learning environment where every student feels comfortable speaking, making mistakes, and progressing at their own pace.

My teaching style is patient, structured, and adaptable. I use real-life situations, interactive activities, and clear explanations to help learners develop strong foundations in grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and conversation.

Whether you are a complete beginner or working toward intermediate levels, I’m here to guide you step by step.

I also understand that some learners may face challenges with reading, writing, or organization, so I aim to present information in a clear, structured, and supportive way that helps students feel confident and comfortable during the learning process.

I truly enjoy helping people unlock new opportunities through language learning. If you’re ready to start your English or French journey, I would be happy to support you with personalized lessons tailored to your goals.

Looking forward to meeting you in class!

Learn more about Kareshma

  • What is your favorite word in your language and why?

My favorite word in my language is “hope.” It’s a simple word, but it carries so much strength. Hope helps me keep going when things feel uncertain or difficult. It reminds me that situations can change, that patience matters, and that better days are possible—even when I can’t see them yet

  • What is your favorite dish from your hometown? If you no longer live there is there a good local restaurant that serves it?

My favorite dish from my hometown is briyani. I love it because of its rich spices, aroma, and the way it brings people together, especially during family gatherings and special occasions. Even though I don’t always get to eat it at home, there are good local restaurants that serve briyani, and it always reminds me of my roots and the comfort of home.

  • Besides the languages you teach, do you speak or study any other languages?

Besides the languages I teach, I also speak Hindi. Knowing Hindi helps me understand different cultures and learning styles, and it supports me in connecting more easily with learners from diverse backgrounds. Besides the languages I teach, I also speak Kreol Morisyen. It is my mother tongue and plays an important role in my daily life. Speaking Kreol Morisyen helps me explain concepts more naturally, build trust with learners, and better understand cultural nuances, especially in informal and real-life communication.

  • What are your interests outside of teaching at Strommen?

Outside of teaching at Strømmen, my interests include creative work and learning. I enjoy exploring art, creating visual content, and continuously developing my skills, especially in languages and communication. I also like spending time on personal growth and meaningful projects that allow me to express creativity and stay intellectually curious.

  • What do you consider your hometown? Why do you love it?

I consider Mauritius to be my hometown. I love it because of its cultural diversity, peaceful atmosphere, and the strong sense of community. The island’s mix of languages, traditions, and cuisines makes it unique, and being surrounded by nature and the ocean gives me a deep feeling of balance and belonging.
