Hola, my name is Sandra Cibati! I’m a French and Spanish tutor with a multicultural background and a true passion for languages. I was born in Venezuela into an Italian family, studied Business in France, and now live in Madrid. Having lived in different countries, I deeply understand the challenges and joys of learning a new language, and I love guiding my students through that process.
With more than 5 years of experience, I’ve taught over 200 students in more than 2,400 lessons, both online and in person. I work with kids and adults, always tailoring each class to their goals, whether you’re learning for travel, business, studies, or personal growth.
My teaching style is interactive, supportive, and fun. I believe learning a new language should feel natural and engaging, not stressful. In my lessons, I focus on building your confidence in speaking and understanding, while also sharing cultural insights that make the language come alive. Mistakes are welcome, they’re simply steps toward progress!
Outside of teaching, I enjoy exploring cultures, traveling, and connecting with people from around the world. I see language not just as grammar and vocabulary, but as a bridge to new experiences and perspectives.

What is your favorite word in your language and why?
In French: "flâner" – It means to stroll or wander around without any particular purpose, just enjoying the surroundings. It's a perfect word for when you're exploring a new city or enjoying a quiet afternoon! In Spanish: "sobremesa" – This word refers to the time spent sitting around the table after a meal, chatting and relaxing. It captures the essence of socializing and savoring the moment with friends and family!

What is your favorite dish from your hometown? If you no longer live there is there a good local restaurant that serves it?
My favorite dish from my hometown in Venezuela is empanadas. They are crispy, savory pastries filled with various fillings like beef, chicken, or cheese. It’s a popular street food and a perfect choice for breakfast. You can find them almost in every restaurant during breakfast time in Venezuela!

Besides the languages you teach, do you speak or study any other languages?
Besides French and Spanish, I also speak English and Italian. My family is from the southern part of Italy, specifically Sicily and Puglia. Growing up with these rich cultural backgrounds has given me a deep connection to both languages. I love how each language not only offers a new way of communicating but also a unique perspective on life and tradition.

What are your interests outside of teaching at Strommen?
Outside of teaching, I’m a big foodie! I love discovering new restaurants, trying different cuisines, and recreating dishes at home. I also enjoy traveling and learning about different cultures, which often inspires what I bring into my classes. On top of that, I’m currently finishing my degree in Business, so I’m always curious about how language connects with global communication and opportunities.

What do you consider your hometown? Why do you love it?
I consider Caracas my hometown. It’s a vibrant city surrounded by beautiful mountains and hills, offering amazing views from almost anywhere. What I love most is that if you cross the mountains, you can reach the beach, giving you the best of both worlds – the serene mountains and the refreshing coastline. Caracas has a unique blend of natural beauty, lively energy, making it a place that always feels alive and full of possibilities.
