Your Gateway to Fluent Arabic: Fusha and Jordanian Dialect for All Levels

What is your favorite word in your language and why?

Beyond its literal meaning, I love this word because it reflects how I see teaching. To me, language is a light ,it helps people understand new cultures, connect with others, and see the world in a different way. As an Arabic teacher, I hope to be that light for my students, guiding them as they learn the language and discover its beauty. It's a simple word, but it reminds me of the positive difference I want to make every day.

What is your favorite dish from your hometown? If you no longer live there is there a good local restaurant that serves it?

My favorite dish is Mansaf. It's the most famous traditional dish in Jordan, made with lamb, rice, and jameed sauce. I love it because it's delicious and because it brings people together. We usually eat it on special occasions with family and friends. There are many good restaurants in Amman, but I especially like Sufra on Rainbow Street for its authentic Mansaf.

Besides the languages you teach, do you speak or study any other languages?

My English skills have been very helpful in my teaching career. Since many of my students are non-native Arabic speakers, being able to explain ideas in English makes communication much easier. It also helps me explain complex grammar points more clearly by comparing the two languages. In addition, English allows me to connect with students and teachers from around the world and continue developing as an educator.

What are your interests outside of teaching at Strommen?

Outside of teaching, I really enjoy creating lessons and learning materials. I like finding simple and interactive ways to explain Arabic and make it easier for students to understand. I especially enjoy creating visual grammar charts and vocabulary activities. I'm also interested in photography and photo editing because I enjoy being creative and working with visuals. In my free time, I like reading and exploring new digital tools that can help me stay organized and improve my teaching. I always enjoy learning new things and finding ways to develop myself, both personally and professionally.

What do you consider your hometown? Why do you love it?

I consider Amman, Jordan, my hometown. It is a city that combines history and modern life in a unique way. What I love most about Amman is its atmosphere and the warmth of its people. The city has changed a lot over the years, but it still keeps its traditions and cultural identity. I also love how welcoming and diverse it is. For me, Amman is more than just the place where I live. It is where I discovered my passion for teaching and learned the importance of hospitality, community, and connecting with people from different backgrounds.
