Hallo, guten Tag! My name is Thomas and I am an Austrian national, born and raised in the Austrian Alps. I moved to the US many years ago and I am currently residing in the San Fernando Valley in LA. Over the years, I have gained more and more interest in learning languages such as Spanish, Italian, and most recently Hungarian. I have a great passion for languages and their structure and I want to spread that passion to my German students.

What is your favorite word in your language and why?
Favorite word in my language is "tschechisches Streichholzschächtelchen", which means "Czech matchbox" in English. It's just a very funny and long term and very challenging to pronounce. Great pronunciation exercise for German learners!

What is your favorite dish from your hometown? If you no longer live there is there a good local restaurant that serves it?
One of my favorite dishes they serve in my hometown is called "Kasspatzln".

Besides the languages you teach, do you speak or study any other languages?
I am also quite proficient in Spanish and currently learning Italian, French, and Hungarian.

What are your interests outside of teaching at Strommen?
Healthy cooking and gym to keep a fresh mind!

What do you consider your hometown? Why do you love it?
I am considering Los Angeles my primary hometown. I love it because it offers many opportunities and diversity, great cultures, and great food! Although my other hometown is called Steinach am Brenner, located in the Austrian Alps. I always love to return to where I grew up. :)
