American Accents
American English as spoken in North America (USA and Canada) is comprised of 30+ regional dialects and variants. General or standard American English is the most widely spoken variant, and is the de facto common language of government, commerce and education. Nonetheless there exist numerous regional variants currently in use. The following is a partial list of the best known American English variants:
